best for the hips
A guard like this is really best for the hips and lower abdominal. You might find the groin protection itself pretty average, but the whole unit does provide good protection. This could be especially useful for kickboxers as a lot of knees and roundhouse kicks are flying.

I don't fully agree with TMartist review on this cup. Yes it does provide abdominal protection and it does provide really good hip protection aswell. But I do kickboxing and I had a everlast cup like this one(not sure if it is exactly like this model, but very similair) and this groin cup in NOT good for kickboxing, the side flanks need to be cut higher, this cup is NOT designed for kicks and or knees, and when you do high kicks and are left open in a compromised position this cup doesn't fully wrap under the area you want protected. I found out the hard way.
