Customer Question on Punching Bags
what size and type bag

Hi,
I am looking to get back into shape. I am 40yrs old, 6'tall and 300lbs. I was very athletic through college and for many years afterwards but I have never used a heavy bag. I have a large basement so hanging or standing is ok. What size and type would you recommend - I have been looking at the water bags.

I have also seen people wrap the support beans to make a bag. Do you have anything that I could do that with?

thanks for the help.

Hi Magna. For the health of your joints I don't recommend wrapping a support beam as it does not flex or sway with the strike. As for heavy bags, I think the best choice for you is the C3 100lb model: bx-hv-721. This is perfect because it has the weight to give you resistance, but will still provide padding since you are new to heavy bag work. I also recommend a solid pair of bag gloves which you can browse here: http://www.boxingdepot.com/baggloves.html.
