“A Step Up”
These Everlast gloves are a step up from the entry pro style gloves. They offer better wrist support, a more ergonomic fit and a cool lining. They're vinyl not leather and don't have the durability of brands like Rival, Reevo and PunchTown, but if you're just starting out these gloves are a solid choice.

The Protex Training Gloves from Everlast use patented new technologies to bring you incredible perfomance, comfort support and durability. The new antimicrobial EverDri liner will wick moisture away from your skin and help to kill germs and bacteria caused by sweat, prolonging the freshness and life of the glove. The Protex Stabilization system provides advanced wrist support and protection by keeping the wrist and thumb locked into a correct ergonomic position. Evercool technology increases air flow theoughout the glove which keeps the hand more comfortable while preventing sweart and moisture buildup. This is an advanced boxing glove offered at a competitive price. It will make an excellent investment and will comfortably protect your hands during training exercises, sparring matches and more. Also available in women's sizes.

    Built tough

Generally, I think Everlast products are ok, but in most cases you pay for the name. The stuff in stores is generally not good quality, and the good stuff costs way too much.

    Then I found these.

The Protex2 is probably the best "cheap" glove I have ever used. They feel good on your hands, have a broken-in feel right out of the package, and...if you need it...they just look cool.

this would be the one I would recommend. Everlast overcharges for their products, but they found a great balance with this glove. Just enough good features, and a heck of a good price

    a knockout!

Very pleased with the quality and fit of these gloves. I have a small hand and am a beginner kickboxer and these gloves will last me a long, long time. Well made, worth the money. Speedy delivery too. No complaints.

    longevity

I find the longevity with my gloves is lessened by the smell and ability of the glove to dry inside. I've always gone with leather because I feel that they breathe better than vinyl and last longer without smelling inside. I haven't tried this new anti-microbial lining yet. Is this better than just getting leather gloves to avoid this problem? Are these gloves vinyl/synthetic leather?

These are vinyl aka synthetic leather. There is a leather version, it's SKU bx-gl-160
Smell comes from bacteria buildup. How effective is the anti-microbial lining? Everlast says it's effective. Can anyone who has used these for a long period of time share their thoughts regarding the smell?

I'd like to recommend a product called glove dogs - http://www.karatedepot.com/bx-gl-99.html . These are inserted into your gloves and help absorb smell and moisture. A great way to prevent the kind of wear and tear you are experiencing!

I used the protex2 gloves for a 4 month period. In this time i put easily 20 hrs of work into them a week including bag and sparring work. The lining remained in good condition until about half way through the third month it, like many gloves, began to stink and had a seemingly permanent wet spot in the very top part of the glove liner. Also the vinyl began to wear through around the palm, I assume that this was perhaps the by-product of perhaps the sweat beginning to absorb through the liner. These are recommended if you want a comfortable glove that has a short lived longetivity but still perform very well.

Haven't used them for too long but I can tell you your hands do get sweety. But my gloves don't smell bad at all... I use foot powder on my hands before using them. It helps to keep your hands a little bit dryer and kills germs that generate the bad smell... Maybe you could give it a try.

Now i've been using them for more than 3 months. The gloves are in excellent condition. No smell at all... I do have extra care on using clean handwraps and footpowder so I don't carry bad smells into my gloves.
100% recommended. I'm buying this again when my actual gloves wear out (doesn't seem to be anytime soon).

I've had 16 oz. Protex2 for about a year and a half now. Very nice fit, broken-in right out of the box. I use them 2, sometimes 3 times per week for 12-round workouts. No smell or dampness issues, but I take care to air them out and spray them inside with disinfectant spray. Wrist and thumb support are superb. The weak point seems to be the vinyl cover on the gloves, it's starting to wear out (surprisingly, not on the hitting surface), I think they'll last me another six months. All-in-all very good gloves considering how inexpensive they are.

With all gloves you should use handwraps... But this gloves are very good protecting your wrist with the protex tech... I have to say i've never used a boxing glove with such good wrist support. You can even adjust it if you have wide or thin wrists.

    Size

My son is 12 and will begin training soon. He is tall for his age. wrist to tip of middle finger is about 7" and about 7" around knuckles. Should I get him l/xl or go smaller? If smaller, when will you have some in stock...need asap.

I think we might be able to assume that he is going to grow some more. That being the case, you could either go with a medium now, and buy large later, or get large now and use handwraps to fill up the extra space.

    Solid gloves

I previously had smaller gloves that worked okay for a while but as I increased my workout duration and intensity they started falling apart, as did my hands. Bought some new hand wraps and these gloves and I've rarely had any long term pain in my hands. Great price for what I consider great quality. I would recommend these to anyone without a second thought. Had them for a little over a year now and after many hard workouts there's no sign of wear. What more could you ask for?

    Doesnt last.

    Pros:
-Really soft, your sparring partner will thank you.
-Wrist support is good, not great.
-It wont smell if you take care of it right.
    -It looks cool.

    Cons:
-After 4 months the Velcro strap would strip off when I'm hitting the heavy bag frequently. Got annoying and forced me to buy a different pair of gloves.
-Hard to dry inside. Does hold up a lot of sweat which is gross if training the next day.

I had these for about 4 months and went to the gym frequently. I'd recommend this to the people who occasionally go to the gym. Not if your training to be an Amateur Boxer.

    Shipping

Hi thanks for the reply to my previous question, i tryed to write this as a reply to your answer but it won't let me for some reason so i will type another question.

I will be making an order for these gloves and just wondered what the shipping cost is to the UK (Scotland) ?

also if these gloves arrive and i try them on and they end up being too big/small can i send them back for a bigger/smaller size ?

Howdy TSC. To figure out the cost and approximate time it will take to get to you, add the gloves to your shopping cart. Then proceed as if you were about to ckecout. Before you have to submit any payment options, you'll be asked to provide your address and the website will calculate shipping cost and time for you.

Regarding the size and returns - absolutely. If they don't work for you just contact our customer support (http://www.boxingdepot.com/csupport.html) and we'll arrange for an exchange or refund. The only thing you would have to pay for is shipping the gloves back to us.

    Small Hand Size

Hey guys, first of all i must say you have one of the lowest price rates on the net for these gloves so that is great. Your price seems very reasonable. I found out about you on youtube through a Boxing Glove review channel.

My main problem i am having with selecting a pair of gloves is size. I have relatively small hands for my age (22) so i am worried about getting a pair of gloves that my hands move around in too much. I like a tight compact fit that feels made for my hand. None of the gloves i see online ever have a hand size that details the size in length width ect and inches they only ever give the weight of the glove and in some cases they have small or large but no indication of how small, small is and how large, large is.

My hand size in inches is this

From tip pf fingers to start of the wrist ( 7.5 inch )
Around palm, just under knuckles ( 8 inch )

what do you recommend i do. These gloves are the ones i am most interested in just now but i would also like Fairtex, but may i just ask one more question. Can the Fairtex gloves be used for Boxing or just Muay Thai ?

Hey TimeSplitter. Go with the small/medium size. I think you'll find them properly snug, especially if you add some handwraps into the mix.

Regarding fairtex - that depends on the specific model in question. If you include a url to the gloves you are considering I could weigh in on that.

That's tough to say Jay, it all depends on your particular hand size. Gel wraps are a little thicker of course than regular wraps, so you may want to grab a pair of regular cloth wraps as well just in case.

    Great Gloves

I bought these Protex2 16 OZ Training Gloves on 07-02-10 from Boxing Depot.com. I have used them extensively and have enjoyed them. I am going to buy two more pairs, one for my wife and the other for my workout partner. They are great gloves if you hit hard and want lots of wrist support combined with the easy to get on and off velcro. When I first ordered the gloves Boxing Depot.com accidentally shipped a groin protector to me. I called them and we had a good laugh at the mix up. They paid for the shipping for the exchange and it was quick. Everyone can make a mistake. Boxing Depot.com handled it professionally and I will buy from them again due to their customer service.

These gloves are remarkably good in regards to wrist protection, so you could get away with not wearing wraps. That being said, the extra comfort and protection of wraps wouldn't be a bad idea.

One way to prevent that kind of issue francis is to get handwraps as well. That way if it is a touch too big you can just fill that added space with more protection.

For the price that these gloves are, i think its a great product..

Right from the start you can put the gloves on, tee off on the bag with no worries about pain at all. I was a little skeptical at first when i stuck the gloves on my hands for the first time without wraps just to check the fit. I wasnt sure if i would be able to get them on with my wraps, but i did and it didnt take any extreme tugging either lol.

Great gloves even to be made by everlast and only cost about $40...

    Great Gloves

I think it's impossible to find better gloves for this price.
I ordered the gloves and got them a month ago (I live in Colombia), used them about 3 times a week and they still look like new.

They feel great, protect your hands perfectly and let's face it, there aren't many gloves better looking than these.

    by: zaybo4
    1/4/2010 2:25:52 AM
    Was this helpful? (0) (0)
How long they will last really depends on how much you use them and what you use them for. for instance, one or two times a week in light sparring these gloves will last forever, but if you go everyday and pound the canvas bag, then the life of the gloves will be significantly lessened. It;s really hard to put a timeframe on something like that. I can say though, that these are pretty tough gloves and we do not have many issues with them wearing out in a month or two. If you buy them and feel like they broke too easily or wore too quickly you can give us a call and we'll see if we can work something out.

    Boxing Gloves Expert FAQs

    1. What type of boxing gloves should I get?

Boxing gloves are constructed to enhance different aspects of your game. Some gloves are designed to be small and compact and place more of the glove weight toward the wrist, increasing speed and impact. Protection is minimized, but punching power is increased. If your primary focus is on punching power, this is a good choice (consider the Cleto Reyes brand). Other gloves do the exact opposite, favoring more padding over the knuckles. Boxers that have had hand injuries or who wish to be mindful of safety prefer gloves that have extra padding over the knuckles. Gloves that are fluffier also make for better defensive tools as they can cover more surface area with less movement (consider the Grant brand of gloves). Other brands range in between these two extremes and you can gauge just how much padding you need, and where you want it.

    3. What weight gloves should I get?

The weight of gloves are measured in ounces. The higher the number the greater the shock absorbency and the heavier the weight. The standard for sparring is 14 - 20 ounces. Go on the heavier side if you want to increase your cardio or have a joint injury. For bag work 12 ounce is standard. For competition 8 or 10 ounce is the standard for pros and 10 or 12 ounce is standard for amateurs.

    5. Boxing Gloves vs. Bag Gloves

Boxing gloves are designed to use a softer less-dense foam combination, mold or gel that increases shock absorbency for both you and your partner. Bag gloves utilize a dense foam that can withstand the day-in-day-out pounding they will receive in the gym. The closure of boxing gloves protects your partner from abrasions. The closure of bag gloves are easy-on, easy-off. Bag gloves also can contain a grip bar in the palm, which provides you an enhanced (and safer) fist.

    7. Can I hit bags with my boxing gloves?

You can do bag work with your boxing gloves, but they will break down faster. The foam and outer in boxing gloves are designed to protect your opponent, which is great when sparring but when you use boxing gloves for bag work they will break down faster than comparable bag gloves would.
