I bought this system from boxingdepot.com and it has been a complete waste of time and money. There was a bracket missing when it arrived, I called a few times and they finally sent me the missing bracket almost 2 weeks later. I mounted the system, put 4lbs of air in the ball and it went flat the next morning. I repumped the ball up and it lasted 15mins and the seams split apart. This system is a waste of time and money, I will never do business with the boxing depot again! Complete waste!

speed bag

i know that everlast is good equipment because when i boxed some years ago that's all i used and it held up for some years. i say you can't go wrong with everlast that is a fact! and the price G'z not bad at all.

o.k for price but thats it

sketchy product....after installation, first punch thrown ripped bag and swivel from mount...had to use BIGGER bolts and washers throughout the whole mount...even though not designed for kicks...i'm a mma competitor....i broke BOTH mount bars with a kick...split them in 2....def. would recommend either a more heavy duty unit or just be easier on this one!

its a great deal but after using the speed bag for about 30 min a day for only one week the bag started to rip and then popped on its own over night, the gloves that comes with it are useless but other then that its a good deal

e.z. lock

This everlast set would work most conveniently with other everlast parts. So the ez lock could work but I don't think it would be completely hassle free.

Questioning Swivel

I received by Speed Bag Set not too long ago and it seems to be a great deal. My one issue is with the swivel that comes with it. It's not the worst however i would prefer a higher duty swivel. I was informed that neither the super speed bag swivel nor the ez lock speed bag swivel is compatible with the base that is provided. I would like to know if there are any better swivels out there that are actually compatible with this base. Any input would be helpful. (Money is not the issue)

Good Deal...

Its what it says it is. Packaging was a little rough, looked pretty beat up. I purchased a different swivel but the one that came with it is not the worst. Overall pretty pleased.

Great Deal

I got this set about a month ago. I also bought the heavy duty swivel to put on the speed bag platform. I'm very happy with it all, best deal out there and believe me I shopped around. I definitely recommend getting the higher quality swivel though, the stock one is junk.

Pretty Complete

This is a good set for beginners or as a gift. It's important to note that the speed bag platform is not adjustable, so make sure you have the space and installation skills to get it where you want it.

  1. How do I choose the right platform for me?

    When first buying a platform there are a couple of questions you might want to ask yourself. First, do you have space for it? You will need to have the platform itself above head height so that the speed bag hangs down around mouth level.
    Second, how hard will you be using it? If you are a casual boxer you can get a cheaper practice model, but if you plan on training daily you may want to spring for a more expensive and heavily constructed unit. The two major sizes available for platform drums (the circular disc) are 24" and 30". Both sizes can accommodate all speed bags, but the 30" is more heavily constructed and reduces vibration.
    Third, would you like a platform with other options? There are some freestanding models that contain not only speed bag platforms but heavy bag and double end bag stands as well.

  2. Do I need an adjustable platform?

    If you'll be using your platform alone, then you can probably get away with a stationary platform. After all, you can adjust it perfectly to your height and secure it to your wall. But if there are multiple people using the platform it is recommended you get one with adjustability. Correct height is an important factor that can produce better technique and reduce unneeded stress on the arms and neck.
    If you are buying a platform for a public gym or facility, it is highly recommended you choose an adjustable platform.

  3. Where can I attach my platform?

    Platforms can be attached to a wide variety of walls as long as they are sturdy enough to bear the load and take repeated vibration. There are some boxers who use wood studs found behind most drywall. Others use cement or cinder block found most often in garages. Whatever you choose, be certain to measure first for height and levelness and be aware that the repeated hitting will cause vibration and noise, especially if the wall material you use (like wood) carries impact.

  4. How can I reduce the noise of my platform and bag?

    Speed bags are great for home training but many people are concerned about the noise and disturbance they cause. When trying to reduce noise, there are a few strategies you can use.
    First, purchase a platform with thick wood or metal construction. Thinner wood causes more vibration and more of a racket. 30" platform drums, which are sturdier and less prone to vibration, are recommended over the smaller 24". Second, place sand bags on top of the platform as that will add density and absorption during your training. Finally, attach the platform to a sturdy wall that will transfer minimal amounts of noise (garages on an nonsharing wall are a good choice). If that isn't an option, place an absorbent material such as rubber between the platform and the wall and screw through it.
