Good Stong Mount

Wooden Beam Heavy Bag Holder

The mount is strong and can easily hold my 100 lb bag. I hit my bag every day and there is no shifting or bolt loosening. I didn't use the extension spring, it would have made my bag hand to low. The mount works just fine without it. I guess if don't want your garage rattling then you might need the spring.

One thing the instructions don't tell you: You need to drill a 1/4" pilot hole into the beam for the 5/16" lag bolts, that secure the mount to the beam. They should have put that into the instructions.

Answer to: Do I need to drill this into my wood beam or can this be screwed in?
Wooden Beam Heavy Bag Holder

You need to drill two 1/4" pilot holes, before you drive the screws into the wood beam. With out them the 5/16" bolt would either split the beam or be extremely difficult to drive the full 2" length of the bolt into the beam.
